I've come to the realization that setting a PR in my next half marathon is probably not going to happen. That means, the man will definitely be able to stay with me. I don't really know what happened. Somewhere I fell off the training schedule and just haven't gotten back on it. It's a shame. Some day I will set a PR in the marathon or half marathon. That some day is far far away.
It seems like my blog is only about running. That was never my intention.
I should find some good story to tell next time.

Ghosties
3 of the 4 blogs that I am currently following have black/dark backgrounds and white font. When reading them I get those ghosties you get from looking at a bright light too long.
It almost deters me from reading them... almost.

I've convinced him AGAIN!

The fee for the St. Louis Half Marathon didn't go up on 1/1/10 like it said it was going to. That gave me enough motivation to want to sign up for it for a third year. I had one rule to signing up though. I wouldn't sign up unless my guy was running with me. Somehow I got him to say yes. He really doesn't like running. Our friend is going to run the full marathon that day. My plan is to set a PR(personal record), go back to the car to change, then walk back and cheer our friend on as he crosses the finish line of his first full marathon. I think it sounds fun.
I have to say I am a little nervous that my guy won't be able to hang with me for this race. I have my sights set on a finish time between 1:45 and 1:53. I have already started my training, which includes at least 1 speed training a week. My guy hasn't ran but twice since the marathon in Nov. He does have advatages that I don't; 8 inches, male, natural runner, etc. So he very well may be able to stay with me. At that point I will have to accept the fact that I put hours of training and pounds of sweat in to get that PR and he will have done practically nothing.
Regardless, my main goal is to get a personal record. I really hope all this work pays off!

Healthy lunch
Totinos pizza rolls and a bag of chips from Jimmy Johns.
Isn't that healthy? I do have an apple I can eat later, it's been sitting in the fridge since before Christmas.

Self Diagnosis
I have Raynaud's phenomenon/disease. Self diagnosed of course.
I can say I am 99% sure that is what I have. The reason I'm so sure is because my grandmother has it and it is hereditary often skipping generations. My sister has the same thing, I think she was diagnosed with it though and has a worse case with it than I.

What is Raynaud's you ask? It is is a vasospastic disorder causing discoloration of the fingers, toes, and occasionally other extremities. Here is a picture of my Raynaud's acting up. It is the toe next to my big toe (is that called your pointer toe?). I can tell without looking that it is happening because it feels like the tip of my toe is a rock. Not heavy, hurting or unresponsive. I can still move it around as normal and walk like normal.
Looking at Wikipedia it tells me that I should avoid caffeine as general care. Just one more reason I should quit drinking coke...

Hairloss...
My poor daughter has a hairloss issue. It is the result of food allergies. Do you know how hard it is to determine what your dog is allergic to? Every dog food has about 100 different ingredients and finding what the one thing is in that list is practically impossible.
It all started about 7 months ago when we took her to the vet to see why her ears get dirty so fast. We had noticed her hairloss but thought she was just getting her summer coat. The vet gave her a specific diet food and in 2 weeks we noticed her hair was getting thicker again. So we kept her on that food for a while (costs 2x the amount of regular dog food), trying to reintroduce other things into her diet. It seemed to be going well. I heard somewhere that dogs are often allergic to corn meal, grains, things like that. I checked her old food and sure enough all those wonderful things were in it. With that bit of knowledge I called around and asked pet stores/vets of food they recommend for dogs with food allergies. I was looking for something that fit the limited ingredients but didn't cost us twice as much as normal.
I was told that Eagle Pack Holistic food was ideal for this. So, I bought a bag for the pooch. We have gotten through about half of the bag of food and... her hair has thinned out again. So, I'm going back to the vet tonight to get the expensive special food. I am taking a list of the ingredients up with me. Hopefully the vet can determine what it is that she is allergic to!
